A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAMAKUA HEALTH
CENTER,INC.,FOR THE HONOKA`A RENAISSANCE FAIRE.
WHEREAS, Hamakua Health Center, Inc. (HHC), is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization
that provides quality healthcare and is responsive to the needs of its patients and the community;
and
WHEREAS,HHC is requesting funds relating to the Honoka`a Renaissance Faire being
held on November 14, 2026, including facility fees, sound equipment, stage tent, and porta potty
rentals, which will serve a public purpose by benefiting, improving, or promoting the interests
and needs of culture and the arts, education, the poor, youth,the aged, and those with physical or
emotional disabilities, victims of crimes,victims of health or social crises, and the public health
and welfare of the people and the environment; now,therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that, in
accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as
amended), Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 are hereby transferred to the
Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Hamakua Health Center, Inc., for the
expenses and purposes identified in"Exhibit A,"a copy of which is attached hereto and
incorporated herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below:

The Honoka'a Business Association's (HBA) Honoka'a Renaissance Faire (HRF) committee gives their time, energy,
and resources in kind to coordinate and execute the event. Although the committee begins work early in the year,
the requested funds will be fully utilized on the day of the event, November 14, 2026. Taking place at the Honoka'a
Sports Complex,the Honoka'a Renaissance Faire is admission-free for the 5,000+ attendees. This annual
celebration of wonder, lore, and much more will include a large variety of local small businesses and food vendors,
local music and arts performances, educational and community support service information vendors, and activities
for all ages.

Hamakua Health Center, Inc., is connected to this project by supporting community partners, such as the Honokaa
Business Association. The organization supports the Honoka'a Renaissance Faire, which brings thousands to the
town of Honoka'a, where attendees support local businesses.

The Honoka'a Renaissance Faire is a unique opportunity for local business owners, artisans, creatives, educators,
and the community at large to share their talents and help further develop meaningful relationships within the
community.The Honoka'a Renaissance Faire(as well as all Honoka'a Business Association events) is designed to
support community development and growth. The organization is committed to fostering a sense of community
within the town, and these events are a necessary component.This event also provides an opportunity for
economic growth for local small businesses and organizations.
