I am writing in strong support of Resolution641-26, recognizing and
supporting the celebration ceremony to be held on October17,
2026,atWai’akahi’ulaParkandHonoluluLanding.
I would also like to extend my sincere mahalo and appreciation to Council
-Kleinfelder for bringing this resolution forward and
helping to elevate the importance of this celebration. His leadership in
recognizing Honolulu Landing and supporting the is an important
demonstration of how our County can honor the cultural history and living
connections of our communities.
For me, this is much more than supporting a resolution or attending a
community ceremony. It is deeply personal. I am a lineal descendant of
Honolulu Landing, through my tutu, .
Because of that connection, Honolulu Landing is not simply a historical place
connection between those who came before us and those of us who carry
their kuleana forward today.
The County’s purchase of Honolulu Landing through the Public Access,
Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation (PONC) program is an
important milestone in protecting this place and its connection to our
community. I would like to extend a warm invitation to all members of the
Wai’akahi’ula Park on October 17 and
participate in this celebration. It would be especially meaningful to
have our Council Members present as we come together to celebrate the
County’s investment in protecting this special place for our community and
for generations to come.

the people, places, and histories that have shaped our communities. It allows
us to enter into a place with respect, to recognize those who came before us,
and to strengthen the relationships that connect us to one another and to
and ensuring that their stories and connections are not forgotten.
As a descendant of Honolulu Landing, I believe it is especially important that
