Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 658-26, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 658-26, transmitted by Committee Member Ashley L. Kierkiewicz via
Communication No. 1040, dated August 12, 2026, transfers/appropriates an appropriation out and
from a designated fund account and credits same to a designated fund account in the Geothermal
Relocation and Community Benefits Fund to enhance the Pahoa Aquatic Center at the William
"Billy" Kenoi District Park.
This resolution transfers $113,000 from the Planning Department Geothermal Other Current
Expenses account to the Department of Parks and Recreation Geothermal Miscellanous Equipment
account.
Committee Member Ashley L. Kierkiewicz provided background and offered comments in support of
this matter.
Committee Member James E. Hustace and Committee Chair Matt Kdneali`i-Kleinfelder both
commented in support. Mr. Kdneali`i-Kleinfelder thanked Ms. Kierkiewicz for her work on this and for
allocating funds for this improvement.
Mr. Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder invited Coach Dorothy Staskawicz to provide comment. She testified that she
was the swim coach at this location and was very grateful for this funding as the equipment is so
deteriorated and in incredible need of replacement.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 658-26, and
recommends its adoption.
