Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 645-26, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 645-26, transmitted by Finance Director Diane Nakagawa via Communication
No. 1019, dated July 31, 2026, authorizes the payment of funds of later fiscal years to enter into a
multi -year agreement with Just Appraised Inc. to renew a software license for the Department of
Finance, Real Property Tax Division.
This resolution authorizes the Mayor to enter into a three-year agreement with an approximate annual
cost of $61,110, to be used by the department to update ownership information that is used for
issuance of assessments, tax billing, and other required correspondences.
Real Property Tax Assistant Administrator Keita Jo was present in chambers.
Committee Member Ashley L. Kierkiewicz asked for background on the matter. Mr. Jo explained
how the software is used and the benefits of artificial intelligence (Al) in the program.
Committee Member Dennis "Fresh" Onishi asked how the software uses Al. Mr. Jo said they use Al
whenever appropriate. In this case, it is used to process applications. Mr. Onishi asked whether
measures were in place to catch what Al may miss. Mr. Jo said they do have a process to identify and
remedy that.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 645-26, and
recommends its adoption.
