Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs, to which was referred
Communication No. 1047, reports as follows:
Communication No. 1047, transmitted by Mayor C. Kimo Alameda, dated August 14, 2026, requests
the Council's review and confirmation of the nomination of Sunita Przewlocki to the Public Access,
Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission.
Executive Assistant to the Mayor, Micah Alameda, was present in the Hilo Chambers to introduce
Ms. Przewlocki, who was also present via zoom.
Committee Member Dennis "Fresh" Onishi made the comment that there is extended family around
Hawaii Island and that he is appreciative of the fact that many of us are related and that volunteers
sometimes are related to others who are serving in various capacities. Committee Member
Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder offered a different perspective regarding transparency of disclosing
relationships.
Committee Member James E. Hustace spoke in favor of the appointment.
Pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 42, Section 2-215(a) of the Hawaii County Code, members of the
Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission shall be appointed by
the Mayor and confirmed by the Council.
Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs is in accord with the purpose
and intent of Communication No. 1047, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of
of Sunita Przewlocki to the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation
Commission.
