Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs, to which was referred
Communication No. 1052, reports as follows:
Communication No. 1052, transmitted by Mayor C. Kimo Alameda, dated August 13, 2026, requests
the Council's review and confirmation of the nomination of Porsche Ha`o to the Board of Appeals.
Executive Assistant to the Mayor, Micah Alameda, was present in the Hilo Chambers to introduce
Ms. Ha`o, who was also present via zoom.
Committee Members Ashley L. Kierkiewicz, Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder, and Dennis "Fresh" Onishi
spoke in favor of the appointment.
Pursuant to Article VI, Chapter 9, Section 6-9.2 of the Hawaii County Charter, members of the
Board of Appeals shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council.
Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs is in accord with the purpose
and intent of Communication No. 1052, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of
of Porsche Ha`o to the Board of Appeals
