A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE GG
FOUNDATION FOR THE "MAHALO TEACHERS" EVENT.
WHEREAS, the GG Foundation is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization that seeks to
revitalize Hawai`i Island through community engagement and by providing assistance,
opportunities, and events to the community; and
WHEREAS,the GG Foundation is requesting funds to provide food and non-alcoholic
beverages for up to 800 educators attending the"Mahalo Teachers"event,which will serve a
public purpose by benefiting, improving, or promoting the interests of educational concerns;
now,therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that, in
accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as
amended), Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 are hereby transferred to the
Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the GG Foundation for the expenses
and purposes identified in"Exhibit A,"a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated
herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below:

"Mahalo Teachers" is an appreciation event dedicated exclusively to Department of Education educators throughout
Hawai'i Island. The event will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Edith
Kanaka'ole Multi -Purpose Stadium and will provide educators with an opportunity to feel recognized, valued, and
celebrated for their dedication and contributions to HawaiTs keiki and communities. The event will welcome up to
800 DOE educators through a registration portal created by the Hawai'i State Teachers Association (HSTA).
Attendees will enjoy food sampling from local vendors, live entertainment, a gifting lounge, and lucky number
giveaways, all provided at no cost to participating educators. The GG Foundation created and organized this event
in. response to the need to support and uplift educators who play a critical role in shaping the future of Hawai'i
Island. Through this event, the Foundation aims to create a meaningful experience that expresses gratitude for
teachers and provides them with an opportunity to connect, recharge, and feel appreciated.

The GG Foundation is the creator and organizer of the "Mahalo Teachers" event. The Foundation's mission is to
revitalize Hawai'i through community engagement and provide assistance, opportunities, and events that benefit
the community. Through the founder's experience working as a part-time PPT with the Department of Education
and volunteering at numerous schools, the FoundatiOn has gained firsthand insight into the dedication and
chalienges experienced by educators. This event reflects the Foundation's commitment to supporting Hawaii
Island's teachers by creating an opportunity to recognize their contributions, provide meaningful appreciation, and
strengthen community connections.

Public Purpose of Requested Funds
Per §2-138 of the Hawai'i County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), the County may grant an award only if
the proposed program or service provides direct public benefits and fulfills a public purpose within the County.

With the requested funds, the GG Foundation aims to successfully host the "Mahalo Teachers" event and provide a
meaningful appreciation experience for up to 800 Department of Education educators on Hawai'i Island.
Measurable outcomes include hosting one community appreciation event, providing food sampling and
refreshments for up to 800 educators, distributing up to 800 mahalo gifts, and providing access to entertainment
and activities that recognize and celebrate educators' contributions.
