Council Members,
Once again I find myself wri?ng yet another le?er to a Big Island Agency to implore you to consider the consequences of
con?nuing to allow permits and building in Waikoloa Village, an area already at great risk of wild fires. Have you not read
or heard us literally begging the State, County and Council to do something about the lack of infrastructure here up to
and including new roads in and out of Waikoloa Village to avoid the loss of life during a fire?
I just can’t wrap my brain around a council who would condone the decision to move forward with development without
basic life saving infrastructure. It’s absolutely unconscionable and it is because of this that I am asking the Council to
oppose both Bills 186 and 187.
The Council and County has a responsibly to those who have elected them. How will any of you look us in the eye if you
have to answer for the devasta?on of a fire the likes of Lahaina without implemen?ng new infrastructure such as
adequate water supply and new viable roads that will serve as escape routes?
I believe that most people residing in Waikoloa Village know and have resolved themselves to Waikoloa Village and its
surrounding area growing and that housing is necessary. We’re only asking that good, decent and logical planning be put
into place to avoid the catastrophe we all know is a high probability.
Thank you for your considera?on.
