Dear Council,
I am a full time Hawaii county resident, home owner and operate a short term rental in my primary residence. I am current
on all my taxes ( RPT, GET, TAT) and have always operated with a "good neighbor" policy for my guests including a
designated parking space and quiet hours. The income I earn helps me afford my home and upkeep.
I am very concerned about the complexity and penalties of Bill 147 coupled with the "just a registration" Bill175. Why
does Bill 175 ask for permit information if it is not required to complete the application. Why was waste water information
added to the list of items to register? I can't make any sense of Bill 147!?! It is frustrating and exhausting to try to keep up
with this. Perhaps that is the point.
Full time residents should be offered clear and obtainable pathways for a residential use of private property. Considering
all the misleading statements made about the purpose of these bills, I think the council should consider giving full time
residents a break from this onerous process.
