Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance appropriating $5,900 that the Department of
Parks & Recreation received from the State of Hawai'i to develop a physical
activity web page and resource guide for the elder population.

A. REOUEST:
To create a revenue account to accept three grants from the State of Hawaii,
Department of Health - $5,900
To create and appropriate an account to expend the grants under the Elderly
Recreation Section - $5,900
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Three mini-grants in the amounts of $950, $950, and $4,000 ($5,900 total) were awarded to the
Elderly Activities Division Elderly Recreation Section. The grants were awarded to develop a
physical activity web page and resource guide for the elder population.
Council action is needed to create revenue/expenditure accounts and to appropriate funds for
the projects.
