The 66th annual Waimea Twilight Christmas Parade is a cherished tradition in the North Hawaii community and is
the second oldest parade in the State of Hawaii. Held annually on the first Saturday of December, the parade
draws spectators, participants, and volunteers from across the island and the state, with many visitors planning
their vacation visits around this beloved community celebration. The parade marks the official start of the holidays
in Waimea and provides a safe, festive, and family-friendly environment for all who attend. It is made possible
through the dedication of a committed group of volunteers and the generous support of local sponsors. More than
just a parade, the event embodies the spirit of community, celebrates shared values, and reinforces the cultural
continuity that makes Waimea unique. Contingency Relief Funds will help support the cost of police services
required to safely host the parade. As the event requires road closures at three locations, along with traffic control
at additional intersections and surrounding roadways, several police officers are needed to manage traffic flow and
ensure the safety of participants, spectators, and the broader community. This funding assistance will help ensure
the Waimea Twilight Christmas Parade remains a safe and enjoyable event.

54. In 2,000 characters or less, describe the measurable outcomes you aim to achieve with these
funds.
The goal of the Waimea Twilight Christmas Parade is to continue the tradition of this beloved parade, the second
oldest in the State of Hawaii, and to provide a fun and safe environment for all attendees and participants. The
organizers work hard to ensure the public is aware in advance of road closures, establish rules to help keep
everyone safe, and maintain an adequate number of volunteers to monitor all aspects of the event. Police support
helps keep the roads and attendees safe, ensuring that road closures have minimal impact on the community while
allowing the parade to proceed in a safe and orderly manner.
