The 74th Annual Paniolo Parade and Festival Week is a week-long cultural celebration in Waimea, Hawari, dedicated to preserving, perpetuating, and sharing the unique history and living traditions of the Hawaiian paniolo. Presented by Aloha Festivals Island of Hawai'i,the 2026 festival carries the theme"Aloha i ka Hawaiian Cowboy!" and brings together families, ranchers, cultural practitioners, musicians, businesses, community organizations, and visitors for a series of educational and community-centered activities. Festival Week features paniolo-themed events including community gatherings, music, food, traditional practices, the Paniolo Cook-Off,the Clyde"Kindy" Sproat Falsetto &Storytelling Contest, and opportunities for participants to learn about Hawai'i's ranching heritage and the generations who have carried these traditions forward. The week culminates on September 19, 2026, with the 74th Annual Paniolo Parade through Waimea, followed by a community ho'olaule'a at Spencer"Kalani"Schulte District Park. The parade showcases horseback riders, pia and paniolo units, cultural and community organizations, floats, ranching families, youth groups, musicians, and businesses. More than an entertainment event, the project celebrates Waimea's identity as one of Hawai'i's most significant ranching communities and creates opportunities for cultural education, intergenerational participation, and community connection. By bringing paniolo traditions into public spaces, the festival ensures that Hawai'i's ranching history is not simply remembered, but actively practiced, shared, and carried forward for future generations. *44. 501(c)(3) Mission Statement Waimea Hawaiian Homesteaders Association, Inc. (WHHA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, serves as the nonprofit organization supporting and administering the 74th Annual Paniolo Parade and Festival Week. The Hawaiian Homestead families of Waimea are among the region's original paniolo families, with generations deeply rooted in ranching, horsemanship, and the traditions of Hawai'i's cowboy culture. These families started this project 74 years ago, and it continues today through their descendants and community. The project directly advances WHHA's mission by perpetuating Kanaka Maoli culture while strengthening the well-being of Waimea and its Hawaiian Homestead families. Through cultural education, music, foodways, horsemanship, storytelling, and intergenerational participation,WHHA ensures that Waimea's paniolo traditions remain living practices carried forward for future generations. *46. Please upload a completed CRF Grant Budget Form. Please select all the public benefits to be derived from your County fund request: Culture and the arts Educational concerns * 48. In 2,000 characters or less, describe the measurable outcomes you aim to achieve with these funds. The requested funds will support 10 fully equipped announcer stations along the approximately two-mile route of the 74th Annual Paniolo Parade. Each station will include a tent, sound system, microphone, table, and chairs, allowing information to reach spectators throughout the parade route, not just those near the main staging area. Measurable outcomes include funding and operating 10 of 15 announcer stations on parade day. Provide continuous parade narration and public information along approximately two miles of the parade route. Share the names, histories, and cultural significance of participating paniolo families, Hawaiian Homestead families, horseback units, floats, community organizations, and cultural groups. Improve communication of safety information, parade delays, emergency notices, and event directions to spectators. Enhance the cultural and educational experience for the thousands of residents and visitors attending the parade. Support the continuation of a 74-year community tradition created and sustained by Waimea's paniolo and Hawaiian Homestead families. Success will be measured by the number of stations deployed, their coverage along the parade route, participation and attendance, and post- event evaluation by organizers and volunteers. These funds will help ensure that spectators are not simply watching a parade, but are hearing the stories and understanding the people, history, and living traditions being represented. 1 F x °. 27xo0. 0vc x , n 'G ' °' -a fD = a o_ O.
