The primary focus of the Community Dog Wellness Program is expanding access to affordable spay and neuter services, which is the most effective long-term strategy for preventing unwanted litters and reducing the number of dogs entering Hawai'i County's shelter system. While Action 4 Animals Hawaii is widely recognized for rescuing, fostering, transporting, and adopting homeless animals,we believe that preventing unwanted litters before they occur is essential to addressing the root cause of dog overpopulation. Community education and grassroots outreach support these efforts by encouraging responsible pet ownership and connecting residents with available resources.Temporary dog food assistance and emergency veterinary assistance further complement the program by helping families overcome financial barriers that might otherwise prevent them from accessing essential and preventative veterinary care or result in pet surrender. *45. 5O1(c)(3) Mission Statement Action 4 Animals Hawaii promotes the well-being of cats and dogs on the Big Island through rescue, adoption, trap-neuter-return-manage, education, and community partnerships.
