Lau Na Maka is a communication and coordination hui for Hawaiian-focused organizations serving Kona. The
project will support quarterly gatherings where participating organizations can build pilina, share updates, discuss
community needs, exchange resources, and identify opportunities for coordination and partnership. Grant funds will
be used to provide food and refreshments for these gatherings. Providing a shared meal will help create a
welcoming environment and reduce barriers to participation for representatives who are attending after work or
traveling from different parts of Kona. Each gathering is expected to include representatives from nonprofit
organizations, community groups, and other local organizations serving Hawaiian communities. This project will
strengthen communication among organizations that often serve the same families and communities but may not
have a regular forum to coordinate their work. By covering the cost of food, the grant will help sustain meaningful
participation and provide a consistent space for organizations to connect, share information, and work together to
support Kona communities.
