I actually love it but in its current loca?on, it is not feasible. I am a Gardner in waikoloa village. I live on .21 of an acre. That is including my actual physical home. I have a decent backyard garden with roughly 30 raised beds, size of the beds are 2 ? diameter by 1 deep and 4 ? by 2? and 1? deep And these beds are not able to fully sustain me and my one other person living in my home. Gardening here is hard, we face so many challenges. We are in a desert and when you’re trying to grow food, water is very important. Currently as of today we are in a 25% reduc?on water use in Waikaloa village due to issues with the pumps and Wells. They have given us a 3 to 4 month window of this being an issue. Why would we be pushing forward new developments that will take massive amounts of water? > My current usage is roughly around 300 gallons a day give or take 50 -100 gallons. > During some of our ho?est months, I am hi?ng 10,000 gallons per month once again my property is .21 of an acre. When watching the last hearing, I became aware that the developer has no idea what it is to garden here in Waikoloa. They say they spent ?me reaching out to the community. I never once heard about this un?l recently. Their best bet would’ve been si?ng outside of Ace Hardware and seeing people buy plants and then asking them. How do you garden ? but they didn’t do that. > Bo?om line is there water usage numbers per acre is very off. 1
