RESOLUTION NO. 731 26
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO THE HAWAI`I POLICE DEPARTMENT TO
ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATING TO HI-PAL'S HIGH SCHOOL ISLAND
SHOWDOWN DRAG RACE AND CAR SHOW.
WHEREAS,the Hawai`i Police Department is committed to providing the highest
quality of police service and forming partnerships with the community to make Hawai`i Island a
safe place to live, visit, and conduct business; and
WHEREAS, HI-PAL (Hawai`i Isle Police Activities League) is a community youth
program under the Hawai`i Police.Department that provides social and athletic activities for
Hawai`i Island youth to promote a spirit of sportsmanship, benevolence, friendship, sociability,
goodwill, and tolerance; and
WHEREAS, HI-PAL hosted the High School Island Showdown Drag Race and Car
Show at the Hilo Drag Strip on October 3, 2026; and
WHEREAS, HI-PAL is requesting funds to assist with the rental of a water slide, bouncy
castle, and a generator for the event; now,therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Hawai`i Police
Department to assist with expenses relating to HI-PAL's High School Island Showdown Drag
Race and Car Show.
• BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Chief of Police and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is
hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
