Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 714-26, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 714-26, transmitted by Executive on Aging Ka`u`ionalani Fukuda via Communication
No. 1121, dated September 23, 2026, accepts a donation of charitable funds for disaster relief from
Hurricane Lala to be used by the Office of Aging.
The donation from USAging Disaster Relief Fund, in the amount of $10,000, will be used to support
older adults in need of recovery assistance.
Office of Aging Administrative Services Assistant Reid Sewake was present.
Committee Member James E. Hustace requested a detailed review of this matter and asked for
clarification on how these funds would be used. Mr. Sewake provided additional information
regarding this measure. Mr. Hustace suggested an amendment to the resolution to clarify how the
relief funds would be spent as the current resolution does not specify their intended use.
Committee Member Holeka Goro Inaba asked if the department would be willing to work with Mr.
Hustace and his office to amend the resolution before the next meeting. Mr. Sewake agreed.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 714-26, and
recommends its adoption.
