Aloha,
As a resident of Hawaii, I am formally submitting a complaint regarding Bill 147, as it has severely
impacted my retirement plans.
I originally purchased a condo in Kailua Kona within the Kailua Village area to generate income as a short-
term rental. Due to the advancement of Bill 147, I felt forced to sell my property to a buyer from Laguna
Beach who will be residing there full-time. Consequently, this unit was removed from the short-term
rental market without creating housing for a local resident.
Furthermore, because of Bill 147 and the recent property tax increases for investment properties, I do
not plan to reinvest in Hawaii real estate.
