Dear Councilman Chung,
My wife and I support Bill No. 325, which appropriates monies for establishing a
community police substation in the Waiakea-Uka Gym located in the upper Waiakea-Uka
community.
We live in the Kupulau Meadows Subdivision, which is located within a mile (0.8 miles)
of Waiakea-Uka Gym. I believe that this project will help deter crime by maintaining a
Police presence in our community and at the Waiakea-Uka Gym complex. By having a
community police substation within the community, we can create a partnership in which
the police and community share the responsibility for solving problems that directly
and/or indirectly threaten community safety and livability. Youngsters often park on
Koaniani Street, the only access in and out of our subdivision. This makes me feel
unsafe. Many times they leave beer cans, bottles, and litter on the roadside for us to see
on our way to work the next day.
I ask that you support Bill No. 325 and help us make our community a safe place for our
families to live and grow.
Sincerely yours,
Alan T. Walker
