Re: Capital Budget
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the capital budget by
appropriating an additional $2,200,000 to the Lanikaula/Manono Traffic
Signals project. This project is 100% federally funded. The original
appropriation of $565,000 covered design, utility, and right-of-way costs. This
additional amount will cover construction costs, including the installation of a
new traffic signal system, construction of additional turning lanes, concrete
sidewalks, and drainage facilities.

A. REQUEST:
Amendment to Ordinance Bill 00 -64 to increase appropriation for the
Lanikaula /Manono Traffic Signals - Federal (110- 399 - 5392.40 -115) project in
the amount of $2,200,000 from $565,000 to $2,765,000. Original appropriation
included design, utility, and right -of -way costs; increase to include
construction costs. Work to include the installation of a new traffic signal
system, construction of additional turning lanes, concrete sidewalks, and
drainage facilities. This project will be 100% federal funded.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The project is on the FY 2000 Statewide Transportation Improvement
Program (STIP) list for construction. The PS &E package for the
construction of the Lanikaula /Manono Traffic Signal project, Federal -Aid
Project No. STP- 2770(3) was approved on May 1, 2000. The Federal
Highway Administration (FHWA) authorized the advertisement of the
project.
