Re: Resolution Accepting Donation
Enclosed is a resolution accepting a park bench from Mrs. Sally Morikawa, c/o
Big Island Retired Military Association, P. O. Box 1840, Kea'au, Hawai'i 96749,
in memory of her late husband, Manabu "Mori" Morikawa, to be used near the
entrance to the Edith Kanakaole Multi-Purpose Stadium, with an estimated
value of $300.00.

Dear Mr. Moffett,
Mrs. Sally Morikawa of Jamestown, North Dakota, wishes to donate a bench in memory
of her late husband, Manabu "Mori" Morikawa. Mori, as he was known, was a native of
the Big Island and a 30 year veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of VietNam,
World War II and the Korean War. Mori was also a Charter Member of the Big Island
Retired Military Association (BIRMA). Sally contacted BIRMA for assistance in
establishing a memorial for Mori in Hilo.
On behalf of Sally Morikawa, the Big Island Retired Military Association humbly
requests that a memorial, in the form of a park bench, be established for Mori in Hilo.
We would like to place the bench around the entrance to the Edith Kanakaole Tennis
Stadium. We feel this would be a fitting place for this memorial.
The bench to be donated is of the same type/quality placed in the Liliuokalani Park and
has been ordered from the same company. There will be no costs to the County,
however, we will require assistance in securing the bench to the foundation so that it will
meet county standards.
Thank you for your most favorable consideration - if approved and the bench is
received, BIRMA anticipates the Memorial Ceremony to take place on or about
Veterans Day, 11'" November 2000.
