Deaz Committee Chair Chung and Members:
We, the Boazd of Directors of the Merrie Monarch Festival, would like to extend our support to
the Department of Research and Development upon their budget review scheduled before your
committee on March 24, 1997.
We appreciate the support of the County of Hawaii in our annual production of the Merrie
Monarch Festival. The success of festivals like the Merrie Monarch aze contingent on the
backing of its government, businesses and community. We are fortunate to be celebrating our
34th Annual Merrie Monarch Festival in Hilo, Hawaii.
