Hawaii County Council
25 Aupuni Street
Hilo, Hawaii 96720
Dear Honorable Arakaki:
RE: Funding for the Domestic Violence Unit
As an agency that deals with domestic violence in the area of child abuse and neglect, I would
like to strongly recommend that the County Council approve the funding for a Domestic
Violence Unit in the Prosecuting Attorney's office. This Unit has been highly instrumental in
bringing all agencies, public and private together, to address the domestic violence problems in
Hawaii County.
Domestic violence is a very serious and devastating problem in the lives of our children and
families. It takes a concerted and a comprehensive approach to address domestic violence.
Hawaii County has taken the lead role in coordinating with other community agencies in
combating this deadly disease that has permeated throughout our County.
I urge you and your fellow council members to approve the funding for the Domestic Violence
unit.
Thank you very much for your kind attention and your consideration of my request.
Sincerely,
Roy atanabe
