PWPC-37 2 June 1, 2000 Comm. 783: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, OF THE (Bi11261) HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (1995 EDITION), RELATING TO VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC (Authorizing aMid-Block Crosswalk along the Keaau-Pahoa Road between Kaohe Homestead Road and the Sacred Heart Church) From Deputy Chief Engineer Jiro A. Sumada, dated May 5, 2000, per request, transmits the above-described ordinance bill. Informs they have met with school officials and the Hawaii Police Department, (Community Policing) to determine the best location for the new crosswalk. Comm. 783.001: From Traffic Division Chief Richard Nishimura, dated May 19, 2000, informing that Bi11261 also amends the Traffic Code by deleting Mamalahoa Highway, in front of the Papaaloa Theater" in article 10, division 4, section 24-276, Schedule 24 (crosswalks), Subsection (b) North Hilo. Further informs the Papaaloa Theater is not in operation and the building has been demolished. Comm. 784: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, OF THE (Bi11262) HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (1995 EDITION), RELATINGTO VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC -(Delete No Parking Zone on the South Side of Kopiko Street N. Kona) From Deputy Chief Engineer Jiro A. Sumada, dated May 9, 2000, per request, transmits a bill providing additional parking along Kopiko Street between Palani Road and the I,anihau Shopping Center. Informs they have investigated this request and deleting the existing no parking zone on the south side of Kopiko Street can provide additional parking. This action will not seriously affect existing driveway sight distance. Comm. 785: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, OF THE (Bill 263) HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (1995 EDITION), RELATINGTO VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC - (Amends Section 24-104 (b) to read "Every motor vehicle upon a highway shall be equipped with fenders for all wheels which shall cover the protrusion of the wheels outside of the outer edge of the fender well to prevent or minimize kicking up of rocks or other hard proiectiles from these wheels"1 From Chief of Police Wayne G. Comm. 792: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24 OF THE (Bill 267) HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (1995 EDITION), RELATING TO VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC, AUTHORIZING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A VOLUNTEER DISABLED PARKING PROGRAM From Deputy Corporation Counsel Frederick Giannini, dated May 18, 2000, transmitting the above-described ordinance bill per request of the Mayor's Committee on People with Disabilities.
