Comm. 635: MAYOR'S PROPOSAL TO FUND THE FIRST INCREMENT
OF THE KAHULUI-KEAUHOU PARKWAY (FORMERLY
KNOWN AS ALIT HIGHWAY PROJECT) TO ADDRESS THE
ISSUE OF BUILDING MAUKA-MAKAT ROADS IN KONA
Copy of letter to Council Chairman James Y. Arakaki, from
Councilman Dominic Yagong, dated January 24, 2000,
transmitting copy of his letter to Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro
dated January 23, 2000, commenting on the above subject matter.
States he will invite the consultant to make a presentation on
behalf of the private land owner in regards to the Lako Street
Connector Project. Further informs the Public Works Department
will be presenting the design plan of the Kahului-Keauhou
parkway project.

Comm. 650: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT -KINOOLE STREET AT
(Bill 200) MAMO STREET-REMOVE PARKING STALLS FOR SIGHT
DISTANCE
From Deputy Chief Engineer Jiro A. Sumada, dated February 1,
2000, informing that the Police Department has requested that the
existing no parking zone on the makai side of Kinoole Street at
Mamo Street be extended by removing two parking stalls for the
purpose of providing additional sight distance at the intersection.
Transmits a bill for the subject amendment.
Comm. 651: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT-KAMEHAMEHA AVENUE
(Sill 201) AT KALAKAUA STREET -PROPOSED FREIGHT
LOADING ZONE
From Deputy Chief Engineer Jiro A. Sumada, dated February 1,
2000, stating that the Downtown Improvement Association has
requested that a freight loading zone be authorized on the mauka
side of Kamehameha Avenue between W aianuenue Avenue and
Kalakaua Street.
Transmits a bill for the subject amendment.
Comm. 652: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT - KALILI STREET -
(Bill 202) PROPOSED PARKING PROHIBITION DURING CERTAIN
HOURS
From Deputy Chief Engineer Jiro A. Sumada, dated February 1,
2000, informing that the University Heights Community
Association has requested that parking be prohibited during
certain hours along Kalili Street fronting the University Heights
Park because of vandalism, littering, loud noises, etc. that the
community is experiencing. They and the Police Department feel
that a parking prohibition will reduce these types of activities in
the neighborhood.
Transmits a bill for the subject amendment.

Comm. 632: REQUEST TO HAVE THE CHIEF ENGINEER ADDRESS
CONCERNS REGARDING THF, GREEN WASTE PROGRAM
AT THE PW&PC'S FEBRUARY 1 2000 MEETING
Copy of letter to Chief Engineer Robert Yanabu from PW&PC
('hair Dominic Yagong, dated January 20, 2000, informing he has
received many inquiries on the County's green waste program
regarding the transition from the previous vendors to the current
vendor. Requests his presence at the February 1, 2000 PW&PC
meeting to make a presentation on the status of the current green
waste program and to give an update in regards to the
environmental concerns at our current green waste site.

The Public Works and Parks Committee and Finance Committee meetings can be seen on
Tuesday, February 15 at 8:30 p.m. and Tuesday, February 22 at 8:30 p.m. The Planning
Committee meeting can be seen on 'Thursday, February 17 at 8:30 p.m. and Thursday,
February 24 at 8:30 p.m. All the above meetings will be aired on Sunday, February 27 at
9 a.m.
