CALL TO ORDER STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON ITEMS ON THE AGENDA REFERRALS: Comm. 355: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT - HALEKII STREET (Bill 84) PROPOSED NO PARKING ZONES From Deputy Chief Engineer Jiro Sumada, dated June 18, 1999, informing that the Kona Community Aolicing Division is requesting that parking be prohibited along both sides of Halekii Street from Mamalahoa Highway to Mamao Street because parking vehicles restrict sight distance of motorists entering Halekii Street from driveways. The parking restrictions will also benefit the proposed traffic signal system at this intersection. PW&PC-16 AMENDED-PAGE2 July 27, 1999 Comm. 384: J C PENNEY PROJECT -CONSOLIDATION PLAN Copy of letter to Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, from PW&PC Chair Dominic Yagong, dated June 1,1999, stating his concerns regarding the J. C. Penney's project, and questions the renovation plans and other pertinent costs. Strongly suggests that the Mayor hold an evening informational meeting in the Council Room, to explain his plans regarding the J. C. Penney's renovation and to invite the State Judiciary personnel to also present their short and long term plan for this location. Comm. 365: EAST AND WEST HAWAII COUNTY SEWER SYSTEM MAINTENANCE INSPECTIONS From Thomas E. Arizumi, P.E., Chief, Environmental Management Division, Wastewater Branch, State Department of Health, dated June 9, 1999, transmitting copies of their inspection reports on the above mentioned sewer systems. They have also included recommendations for sewer maintenance improvements. Requests that the Department of Public Works submit an affirmative action plan addressing the noted items by August 11, 1999. Comm. 365.001 Copy of letter to Thomas E. Arizumi, P.E. Chief, Environmental Management Division, Wastewater Branch, State Department of Health, from Deputy Chief Engineer Jiro Sumada, dated July 14, 1999 addressing the deficiencies cited in Comm. 365. Comm. 367: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC (Res.115-99) WORKS, COUNTY OF HAWAII, TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, STATE OF HAWAII, FOR A GLASS RECOVERY PROGRAM From Jiro Sumada, Deputy Chief Engineer, dated June 30, 1999, transmitting the above-mentioned resolution and a copy of the agreement. Comm. 378: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT (Bill 108) KAMEHAMEHA AVENUE: RELOCATE MID-BLOCK CROSSWALK AND ADJUST PARKING REGULATIONS AT SOCCER FIELDS From Jiro Sumada, Deputy Chief Engineer, dated July 12, 1999, transmitting a bill to relocate the existing mid-block crosswalk on Kamehameha Avenue between Kumu Street and Ponahawai Street to Kumu Street to provide additional on-street parking along the mauka side of Kamehameha Avenue.
