The purpose of dais bill is to add a new section to establish a anethod of valuation of the property of public utilities to enable the County to collect real property tazes frown said utilities. Includes provisions relating to: the peranissive use of values set forth in annual financial reports to the Public Utilities Coananission; definitions; the use of the anarket approach to deteranine land values; real property coanprising and outside plants; treataaaent of outside plant property with regard to liens and foreclosure. Sayre iVlemorial Fund forpurchase of rescue equipment) From Finance Director Harry A. Takahashi, dated Jure 29, 2000, transmitting the above bill. Comm. 837.001: From Acting Finance Director Dixie Kaetsu, dated July 6, 2000, (Bi11279) transmitting Bi11279, Draft 2, appropriating $6,22'7.24 that the (Draft 2) Hawaii County Fire Department received from the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Fund to purchase rescue equipment. The funding source was changed from Contribution from Private Source to Fund Balance Reserved for Grants. Comm. 838: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 00-63, AS (Bi11280) AMENDED, THE OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE COUNTY OF HAWAII FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2001 (Appropriating an additional $15,000 that the State Department of Transportation Public Affairs Office-Safe Community Program is awarding to the Hawaii County Police Department for the purpose of conducting more DUI roadblocks) From Finance Director Harry A. Comm. 842: RESOLUTION CREATING A MOTOR VEi-IICLE (Res. 280-00) REGISTRATION CLERK I FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE TREASURY DIVISION FOR WEST HAWAII From Acting Director of Finance Dixie Kaetsu, dated July S, 2000, transmitting the above resolution. This position was not included in the FY 2000-01 budget because a method of trying to combine the real property and motor vehicle functions was attempted but proved to be unfeasible. Comm. 844: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A (Res. 281-00) DONATION OF AN "OJIZO-SA1~1A" STATUE From Council Chairman James Y. Arakaki, dated July 7, 2000, transmitting the above resolution. The ornamental statue, worth appoximately $1,500.00, was donated to the County of Hawaii from the Hawaii Island Japanese Community Association and would enhance the appearance of Lili`uokalani Gardens and the many visitors from the Orient will recognize this protector of the traveler. Finance Committee-41 Page 4 July 25, 2000 Comm. 848: APPROVING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A SISTER CITY (Res. 282-00) RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SUMOTO CITY (AWAJI ISLAND), JAPAN, AND THE COUNTY OF HAWAII From Executive Assistant R. B. Legaspi, dated July 12, 2000, transmitting the above resolution. A commitment from the Hawaii Florists and Shippers Association to serve as the private sector sponsor has been received relating to the establishment of a Sister- City relationship. A delegation of County officials, 12 members of the Waiakea Intermediate School Ukulele Band and members of the Hawaii Tropical Flower Council (HTFC) will be visiting Sumoto City on July 19-23, 2000 to participate in their Japan Flora 2000, and Hawaiian Festival. Also, a delegation of 20 students and eight chaperones from Sumoto City and Ikaho-machi is expected to visit the Big Island on August 18-23, 2000. Homestays for the students will be provided by the Waiakea Intermediate School Ukulele Band members and their families.
