Comm. 612: NOMINATION OF RODNEY H. WATANABE TO THE
HAWAII COUNTY SALARY COMMISSION
From Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated January 5, 2000,
submitting the following name for confirmation to serve on the
Salary Commission:
Rodney H. Watanabe of Kona (Council District 7), to
replace Gweyn E. Eckart, whose term expired on
December 31, 1997. He is a lifetime resident of Hawaii
who, since 1985, has been with the Hawaii Community
Federal Credit Union and presently serves as its Senior
Vice President. He has no political affiliation. If approved,
he will serve the balance of the unexpired term, which will
end on December 31, 2002.

Comm. 615: NOMINATION OF PETER P. MULLER TO THE HAWAII
COUNTY POLICE COMMISSION
From Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated January 3, 2000,
submitting the following name for confirmation to serve on the
Police Commission:
Peter P. Muller of Hilo (Council District 2), to replace
Sharon Scheele of Hilo (Council District 2), whose term
expired on December 31, 1999. He is a 34-year resident of
Hawaii who, since 1983, has been the Owner/President of
Applied Graphics, Inc. He does not have any political
party affiliation. If approved, he will serve a term to end on
December 31, 2004.

Comm. 580: POST AUDIT REPORT OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
FISCAL YEAR ENDED JUNE 30 1999
From Legislative Auditor Constance R. Kiriu, dated December 9,
1999, transmitting the above Report and Management Letter, dated
October 15, 1998, for review, deliberation and acceptance, as
prepared by KPMG Peat Marwick. The Report and Management
Letter satisfy the requirement of Section 10-13 of the Hawaii
County Charter to conduct an annual independent audit of the
accounts and other evidences of financial transactions of the
county and of every county agency and executive agency.

Comm. 617: ORDINANCE BILL AMENDING THE OPERATING BUDGET
(Bill 194) BY APPROPRIATING $4,980 FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF
HAWAII AT MANOR, CANCER RESEARCH CENTER OF
HAWAII, PREVENTION AND CONTROL PROGRAM; AND
(Res. 201-2K) RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR
TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE UNIVERSITY
OF HAWAII AT MANOR, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR
ALCOHOL PREVENTION
From Finance Director Harry A. Takahashi, dated January 3, 2000,
transmitting the above bill and resolution. The purpose of the
funding is to increase youth awareness of the negative
ramifications of alcohol consumption by youth who gather in large
groups in public areas in the community and decrease alcohol
offenses by teens.
