Comm. 409: ORDINANCE BILL TO RESURFACE VARIOUS PUNA (Bill 117) ROADS, I.E., HIGHWAY 137, POHOIKI ROAD, KAMAILI ROAD, KUMAKAHI ROAD AND KIULA HOMESTEAD ROAD From Finance Director Harry A. Takahashi, dated August 4, 1999, transmitting the above bill. FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) funds will be 75 percent of the project or $1.5 million. Finance Committee-1'. Page 2 September 8, 1999 Comm. 410: ORDINANCE BILL TO REALIGN THREE SECTIONS OF (Bill 118) HIGHWAY 137 From Finance Director Harry A. Takahashi, dated August 4, 1999, transmitting the above bill. The project will relocate the existing roadway further inland to prevent future damage from high seas. FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) funds will be 75 percent of the project or $1.5 million. Comm. 417: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY OF HAWAII (Res. 133-99) TO ENTER INTO AMULTI-YEAR LEASE FOR A COPY MACHINE FOR THE OFFICE OF THE CORPORATION COUNSEL, FAMILY SUPPORT DIVISION-HILO BRANCH, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1999-2000 THROUGH FISCAL YEAR 2004-2005 From Finance Director Harry A. Comm. 420: ORDINANCE BILL RE-APPROPRIATING THE COUNTY'S (Bill 119) SHARE ($451,000) OF THE FEDERALLY-FUNDED PROJECT TO CONSTRUCT LINDSEY ROAD IMPROVEMENTS From Finance Director Harry A. The project proposes to improve the intersection at Lindsey Road and Kawaihae Road and to reconstruct the failing pavement along a portion of Lindsey Road and Kawaihae Road. Finance Committee-1~. Page 3 September 8, 1999 Comm. 427: SPECIAL STUDY ON FEDERAL GRANTS 96-DB-13 AND LOA 97-39 TO THE HAWAII COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT FUNDING MARIJUANA ERADICATION From Legislative Auditor Constance R. Kiriu, dated August 27, 1999, transmitting the above study, which was prepared by the Legislative Auditor's Office at the request of the County Council by its Resolution No. 333-98. The study provides information about our County Police Department's role in the Statewide Marijuana Eradication Taskforce and the state and federal protocols for accountability. Comm. 427.001: Copy of letter to Legislative Auditor Constance R. Kiriu, from Police Chief Wayne G. Carvalho, dated August 26, 1999, providing his department's response and concerns to her report entitled "Special Study on Federal Grants 96-DB-13 and LOA 97-39 to the Hawaii County Police Department Funding Marijuana Eradication." States they also intend to take action on the report's suggestions and recommendations, as listed. Comm. 295: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY OF HAWAII (Res. 85-99) TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR A MARIJUANA ERADICATION GRANT From Finance Director Harry A. Takahashi, dated May 4, 1999, transmitting the above resolution. This grant is for the purpose of providing funds for expenses incurred to investigate, eradicate and suppress the cultivation and trafficking of controlled substances. Comm. 295.001: From FC Chair Aaron S.Y. Chung, transmitting Res. 85-99, (Res. 85-99) Draft 2, to correct an error in the first paragraph that addressed (Draft 2) the Department of Justice as a State office rather than the United ` States government. Comm. 295.002: From FC Chair Aaron S.Y. Chung, dated August 27, 1999, transmitting copies of correspondence amending Letter of Agreement 99-38 between the Hawaii County Police Department and the U.S. Department of Justice. The said agreement, which is attached to Comm. 295, is amended by increasing the amount of funds provided by the Drug Enforcement Administration by $55,000, making the new total allocation $255,500.
