FC-17 Page 2 August 10, 1999 Comm. 324: CONCERNS ABOUT THE COMMUNITY POLICE OFFICERS ASSIGNED TO THE KEAAU-KULA SUBDIVISION NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH From Joseph Samuels, expressing concerns by the Keaau-Kula Subdivision in Puna about the Community Police officers assigned to their neighborhood watch. States it is difficult to get in touch with them because they are performing other police assignments, leaving them without supervision when problems arise. Notes Federal grants have been specifically appropriated for Community Police officers neighborhood watch programs. Proposes that more police officers be assigned in Puna so that the designated Community Police officers can perform their duties in the neighborhood watch programs. Comm. 335: REQUEST "REAL TIME CAPTIONING" AS PART OF BID PROPOSAL FOR COUNCIL TELEVISION COVERAGE FOR THE DEAF AND HEARING-IMPAIRED From Laura L. Tobosa, Chair, County of Hawaii Committee on People with Disabilities, dated June 17, 1999, recommending that the County include "real time captioning" as part of the bid proposal for the County Council television coverage. This is a basic requirement of the FCC and total enforcement must be completed by the year 2005.
