PRESENTATION BY GAIL ROCK, DATA PROCESSING MANAGER,
REGARDING Y2K PROJECTS -STATUS UPDATE FOR COUNTY OF HAWAII
REFERRALS:
Comm. 70: Y2K CONCERNS
From Ray W. Lauchis, dated December 29, 1998, requesting
information on the above and submitting an article from The
Washington Post Company entitled, "Y2K Test Has Montgomery
Confident ofBug-Free 2000." Asks if any of the tests outlined in
the article were performed by the County.

Comm. 70.01: From Roger Christie, dated November 30, 1999, commenting on
the above subject matter and informs that he has hosted a Y2K
awareness discussion at Border's Books in Hilo and would be
pleased to help in any way with the discussion on this matter.
Comm. 70.02: Copy of letter from Bishop Insurance Agency of Hawaii, Inc.,
dated December 14, 1998, submitting insurance information
regarding the possible year 2000 problems that could affect entire
operations, including computer systems and official facilities.
Comm. 70.03: From Costis Toregas, President, Public Technology, Inc.,
transmitting Y2K & YOU tool kit which has been produced by
Public Technology, Inc., (PTI) and its sponsoring organizations,
the National League of Cities (NLC), National Association of
Counties (NACo) and International City/County Management
Association (ICMA) to give local governments the help needed to
develop remediation strategies.
Comm. 79: REPORT ON EAST HAWAII'S VISITOR INDUSTRY -
OPPORTUNITIES AT HAND
From HS&EDC Chair Curtis Tyler, dated January 5,1999,
transmitting, for information, a report from the Special Hilo/East
Hawaii Tourism Group, a project of the East Hawaii Governor's
Office and the Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce dated
November 1998.
Comm. 80: ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE DISTRICT OF
KA'U
From HS&EDC Chair Curtis Tyler, dated January 5,1999,
transmitting, for Council's review, the Economic Development
Plan for the District of Ka'u (County of Hawaii) prepared for the
State of Hawai'i's Department of Business, Economic
Development and Tourism (DBEDT).

The Public Works & Parks Committee and Finance Committee meetings can be seen on
Saturday, January 16 at 1 p.m. and on Tuesday, January 19 at 8:30 p.m. The Human
Services & Economic Development Committee and the Planning Committee meetings
can be seen on Monday, January 18 at 1 p.m. and Thursday, January 21 at 8:30 p.m. All
the above meetings will be aired on Sunday, January 31 at 9 a.m.
