BENTO TO THE COMMITTEE ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN From Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated April 15, 1999, informing he has appointed Jeannette K. Bento of Hilo to the Hawaii County Committee on the Status of Women, replacing Yun Chu Pilles of Hilo, who has resigned as she has relocated to the mainland. Ms. Bento, a lifetime Hawaii resident, has been a social worker with the Queen Liliuokalani Children's Center since 1985 and will serve the HS&EDC-8 Page 2 July 7, 1999 balance of the unexpired term which will end on December 31, 2004. (Note: This appointment does not need Council's conftrmation) Comm. 301: APPOINTMENTS OF DOROTHEA J. AULDRIDGE, TANTALAYO MCLAUGHLIN AND ALMA JOY R. DULDULAO TO THE FAMILY VIOLENCE ADVISORY COMMISSION From Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated May 17, 1999, informing he has appointed the following to the Hawaii County Family Violence Advisory Commission: Dorothea J. Auldridge of Waikoloa, a 13-year resident of Hawaii who is the Family Life Mediation Director of the Hawaii Island YWCA, Kamuela Division. Tantalayo McLaughlin of Kona, a 9-year resident of Hawaii, who is the West Hawaii Program Director of the Family Crisis Shelter, Inc. Alma Joy R. Duldulao of Hilo, a lifetime resident of Hawaii, who is the Executive Director of the Family Crisis Shelter, Inc. (Hilo). (Note: These appointments do not need Council's confirmation) Comm. 305: APPOINTMENT OF JAMES R. BEIMBORN TO THE COMMITTEE ON PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES From Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated May 24, 1999, informing he has appointed James R. Beimborn of Kona to the Hawaii County Committee on People with Disabilities, replacing Betsy A. Ludwig of Hilo, who resigned due to an increase in her work schedule. A 31-year Hawaii resident and since 1978, aself-employed principal architect of Beimborn/Kekoa Architects, Mr. Beimborn will serve co-terminus to the Mayor's term of office, which will end on December 4, 2000. (Note: This appointment does not need Council's confirmation) Comm. 332: APPOINTMENT OF ALISSA L. ALCOSIBA TO THE COMMI'T'TEE ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN From Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated June 9, 1999, advising that he has appointed Alissa L. Alcosiba of Hilo to the Hawaii County Committee on the Status of Women to serve a term to end on December 31, 2002. A lifetime resident of Hawaii, Ms. Alcosiba has been self-employed since 1998 as a Marketing Consultant dba Impact Hawaii. Matsunaga, Vice President, External Affairs, GTE Hawaiian Tel, dated April 15, 1999, providing information on a new economic development opportunity on the Big Island. States GTE Hawaiian Tel has partnered with W.H. Shipman on the Big Island to create Hawaii's first GTE SmartPazk. Located in the Shipman Business Park in Keaau, the SmartPazk offers tenants a combination of low-cost location and leading- edgetelecommunications technology. Comm. 338: MAYOR YAMASHIRO'S PLAN TO POSSIBLY MOVE THE EAST HAWAII CULTURAL CENTER FROM 141 KALAKAUA ST. TO THE J.C. PENNEY BUILDING IN THE KAIKO'O MALL From Alice L. Moon, dated June 16, 1999, expressing her concern on the above subject matter. Comm. 338.OO1:From Vicki Penney-Rohner, Chairman, East Hawaii Cultural Center, dated June 15, 1999, regarding Mayor Stephen Yamashiro's conceptual plan to move the Merrie Monarch offices and to put a Hula Museum to the Old Police Station Building, where the cultural center has been located for the past 20 years. States the Cultural Council has been offered space in the former JC Penney's building. Comm. 338.002:From Robin Miller opposing Mayor Stephen Yamashiro's plans to preclude the renewal of the East Hawaii Cultural Council's lease that they currently hold on the Old Police Station building when it terminates on December 31, 2000. Also transmits her June 19, 1999 letter regarding the subject matter.
