The program is supported by the U.S. Enviromnental Protection Agency, participating utilities, home builders, and mortgage lenders. It also provides incentives for installation of solar water heating systems such as favorable mortgage rates, lower utility bills, and enhanced resale value. HS&EDC-17 Page 2 July 6, 2000 REFERRAL: Comm. 830: "ENERGY STAR HOMES" PROGRAM From HS&EDC Chair J. Curtis. Tyler, II, dated June 26, 2000, offering to apprise the Council Members and the viewing public on the "Energy Star Homes" program at its HS&EDC meeting of July 6, 2000. Also submits for information a program brochure prepared by HECO and some recent EPA guidelines. With the recent participation of HELCO, a Kona contractor, and American Savings Bank here on the Island of Hawaii, believes this presentation will offer valuable information to prospective homebuyers and island homeowners alike. STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ADJOURNMENT The meeting place is accessible for persons with physical disabilities.
