ON THE 16 PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENTS TO BE VOTED ON IN THE
NOVEMBER 2000 HAWAII COUNTY GENERAL ELECTION. HE WILL ALSO
MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING A CONFERENCE ON "LIVING WITH
THE ENDANGERED SPECIES ACT: DEVELOPING STRATEGIES FOR
RECOVERY AND RESOLUTION," SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 24-25, 2000 AND
SPONSORED BY THE HAWAII LEEWARD PLANNING CONFERENCE.

Comm. 938.001: From Leon A. Thevenin, dated September 19, 2000, stating his
opposition to the proposed Charter amendment to hold mandatory
Council meetings in Kona every 3 months, for reasons, as stated.

The Public Works & Parks Committee and Finance Committee meetings can be seen on
Tuesday, October 10 at 8:30 p.m. and Tuesday, October 17 at 8:30 p.m. The Human
Services & Economic Development Committee and Planning Committee meetings can be
seen on Thursday, October 12 at 8:30 p.m, and Thursday, October l9 at 8:30 p.m. All
the above meetings will be aired on Sunday, October 22 at 9 a.m.
