EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING -SEPTEMBER 29, 2000
From Al Smith, Vice President, HSAC, dated October 11, 2000,
submitting highlights of the Executive Committee meeting of
September 29, 2000.
ACTION REQUESTED: Support of proposed HSAC Policy
amendment whereby Hawaii County and Kauai County will be
responsible for hosting future HSAC conferences during odd-
numbered years and Maui County and City and County during
even-numbered years.

(Res. 334-00) OF A LATER FISCAL YEAR AND OF MORE THAN ONE
FISCAL YEAR FOR SIX (6) REFUSE TRAILERS;
(Res. 335-00) RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS

have the resources to purchase the above equipment so would like
to enter into a lease program over a 5-year period.

(Bi11335) AS AMENDED, THE OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING
JUNE 30, 2001 (Appropriating $22,000 for the Data Transmission
Upgrade grant); and
(Res. 337-00) RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE
MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE
STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, PURSUANT
TO HRS 46-7, FOR A DATA TRANSMISSION UPGRADE
GRANT

transmitting the above bill and resolution. The State Department
of Transportation Public Affairs Office-Safe Community Program
is providing the grant to provide data on a timely basis and
increase the accuracy of motor vehicle crash reports. The grant
will be used to purchase computers, printers, software and a FAX
machine.

(Bi11336) AS AMENDED, THE OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING
JUNE 30, 2001 (Appropriating $10,000 for the Occupant
Protection Program grant); and
(Res. 338-00) RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR
TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, PURSUANT TO
HRS 46-7 FOR AN OCCUPANT PROTECTION GRANT

of Transportation Public Affairs Office-Safe Community Program
is providing a grant to reduce motor vehicle front seat occupant
Fatalities and reduce injuries and/or fatalities to children by
increasing child safety seat use during Thanksgiving;
January 1-15, 2001; Buckle Up Week in May 2001; and Labor Day
weekend.

(Bi11337) AS AMENDED, THE OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING
JUNE 30, 2001 (Appropriating $33,375 for the Hawaii Speed
Enforcement grant); and
(Res. 339-00) RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR
TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, PURSUANT TO
HRS 46-7 FOR A HAWAII SPEED ENFORCEMENT GRANT

of Transportation Public Affairs Office-Safe Community Program
is providing the grant to conduct speed enforcement roadblocks to
reduce speed on the highways.

COUNTY OF HAWAII FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING
JUNE 30, 2001 (Appropriating $31,000 for the Sobriety
Checkpoint grant; and
(Res. 340-00) RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR
TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, PURSUANT TO
HRS 46-7, FOR A SOBRIETY CHECKPOINT GRANT

of Transportation Public Affairs Office-Safe Community Program
is providing a grant to conduct DUI roadblocks to increase public
awazeness of the impaired driver on the highways for major
holiday weekends as Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New
Year's Eve, Super Bowl Sunday, Memorial Day and Labor Day.

of Transportation Public Affairs Office-Safe Community Program
is providing a grant to reduce traffic accidents by decreasing
speeding and other hazardous traffic violations on Waianuenue
Avenue through public awareness.
Comm. 962: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 00-63,
(Bi11340) AS AMENDED, THE OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING
JUNE 30, 2001 (Appropriating $47,000 for the Data Records
Project grant); and
(Res. 342-00) RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR
TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, PURSUANT TO
HRS 46-7. FOR A DATA RECORDS PROJECT GRANT
From Director of Finance Dixie Kaetsu, dated October 17, 2000,
transmitting the above bill and resolution. The State Department
of Transportation Public Affairs Office-Safe Community Program
is providing a grant to provide equipment necessary to transfer
reports on motor vehicle accidents on a timely basis to the
Department of Transportation. The grant will be used to purchase
computers, scanners, imaging software and alcohol sensor
screeners.
