(3)3-5-003-028 (POR.). WHEREAS, Hamakua Housing Corporation is the owner of real property located at Papaaloa, North Hilo, Hawaii, specifically Tax Map Key No. (3)3-5-003-028 (por.), consisting of 13,704 square feet (Exhibit "A" attached); and WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii seeks to acquire that parcel to allow it to formally acquire an existing roadway alignment which links the Old Mamalahoa Highway to the new Belt Highway and traverses land owned by Hamakua Housing Corporation; and WHEREAS, Hamakua Housing Corporation has agreed to exchange this portion of its property for a remnant piece of the Old Mamalahoa Highway, Remnant J, which is currently owned by the County of Hawaii, consisting of approximately 1.436 acres (Exhibit "B" attached); and WHEREAS, this remnant is currently overgrown and impassable as a thoroughfare, but does provide access to tenants of the Hamakua Housing Corporation; and WHEREAS, the County foresees no need to keep this remnant open, except for access to these private residences; and WHEREAS, although the parcels are of unequal size, the alignment acquired with Tax Map Key No. (3)3-5-003-028 (por.) would provide the County of Hawaii with a far superior access to the Belt Highway in terms of ease of access and safety; and COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION N0. 415 7 (DRAFT 2) RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXCHANGE OF REAL PROPERTY WITH HAMAKUA HOUSING CORPORATION; REMNANT PIECE OF THE OLD MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY, REMNANT J, TAX MAP KEY NO.
