Newly nominated County of Hawazi Planrung Director Chnstopher Yuen has been a
personal fnend for approximately 26 years I consider Chns to be an honorable and honest
human being I don't believe that Mayor-elect Harry Kun could have chosen another
person for thrs posmon.
Chns's who served on the state Board of Land and Natural Resources for two terms -
eight yeazs -makes loin well qualified for the Job as County Plarwng Ihrector He u
well-respected attorney who has lot of expenence at both the state and county level
Chns is a "Local Boy" born on the Big Island and also holds a BA m "Environment
Studres" which makes him a great asset to the community on land-use Issues
Approxunately five years ago Chns azgued a case aga?nst the U S JusUCe Departrnent
before the U S Supreme Court and won as you might have read I consrder anyone who
can beat the "High-Powered" attorneys of the JusUCe Department to be quite mtell~gent
As my council representattve of the D?stnct 4, I strongly recommend that you vote to
confirm the appointment of Chnstopher Yuen's as Director of the County Planning
Department
