Puna Iviy grandfather, the late Ahnee of Kohala rebuilt the steeple of the Kalah~k~ola
Hai+•auan Stone Church over a century ago I am a local boy prov~dtng testimony on
behalf of a fellow local boy, Christopher Yuen
This is to recommend, without reservation, the appointment of Christopher
Yuen as the Hawaii ('ounh• Planning Director
As a former State Senator, I understand the importance of timely implementation of
policy gmdelmes, ewdelmes that your council ~s charged with creating m response to
public needs Because of Mr 1'uen's solid, hands-on expenence and m-depth knowledge
of county plamung matters, your council can be sure that leammg-curve delays will be
mmun~zed and that urgent matters related to the department can be expected to be
handled seamlessly with minimal transition delay
Christopher Yuen ~s also a lawyer with deep understanding and compassion for our
ama and less fortunate members of our community You can see rt m his pro-bono work
for vanous non-profit community groups and low-income mdwiduals It has been my
pleasure to work with Mr Yuen on some of these actrvrties and to see, at first hand, his
competent profess~onahsm balanced with a genuine concern for his clients and the people
of Hai+an
~~'e are fortunate to have a person of Mr Yuen's caliber wilting to step forward to
serve the people of Hawau
