County of Hawau Planning Dvector nominee, Christopher Yuen has been a personal
friend for approxunately 12 years [believe that Mayor-elect Harry Kun made the best
possible selection for this position
Chris, who was born and raised on the Big Island, served on the state Board of Land and
Natural Resources for two terms (eight years), making hun well qualified for the position
of County Planning Director He >s awell-respected attorney with a lot of experience at
both the state and county level Also, approximately five years ago, he argued a case
before the U S Supreme court against the U S. Department of Justice and won the case
In addition to lus law degree, he has a BA degree in Envvonmental Studies He would be
a great asset on land-use issues
His inteWgence and integrity, }us dedication and perseverance, along with other fine
attributes, all add up to lus being an outstanding choke for the posrt~on of County of
Hawau Plannutg D'vector I urge you, as the council representative for my D~stnct, to
vote yes in confirming the appointment of Christopher Yuen to this position
