I am privileged to recommend for your favorable consideration, the appointment and confirmation of
Lincoln S T Ashida, Esq , to the position of Corporation Counsel for the County of Hawaii I met
Mr Ashida in 1991, when I moved to the Big Island We leave worked together on several occasions,
socialized and I consider him a fnend
Mayor Harry Kim selected an excellent nominee for the position of Corporation Counsel Mr
Ashida's professionalism as an attorney and advocate are exemplary He is an excellent attorney and a
zealous advocate. He is well regarded by the civil and cnminal bar on the Big Island He is
personable and hardworking He has taken on admtmstradve tasks and responsibilities in the
Prosecutor's Office, advised the Police Departrnent on an ongoing basis and proven himself to be a
strong and dedicated advocate for victims of cnme
Mr Ashtda will bung new energy and focus to the Office of the Corporation Counsel He is an
mtelhgent and articulate individual He will be instrumental in meeting the Administration and
Council's need for legal sernces dunng this teem. I have every confidence in Mr Ashida's ability He
is someone Mayor Kim and the Council can rely and depend on to handle the position in a responsible
and professional manner
In summary, it is a pleasure to recommend Mr. Lincoln Ashtda for the Council's approval
