RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY OF HAWAII TO INTER INTO AN
AGREEMENT WITH THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7,
FOR A LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT.
WHEREAS, the United States of America through the U.S. Department of
Justice, Office of Justice Programs, has authorized funding for equipment, technological
and information systems improvements to enhance operations and communication
within and between our offices and other agencies; and
WHEREAS, funds provided by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of
Justice Programs are derived from grants provided by the federal government; and
WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county
departments obtain the consent of the rnuncil to enter into agreements with the federal
or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers
granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in
connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII, that the Office of the Mayor is authorized to enter into
Negotiated Agreement for Grant Contract Number 2000-LB-BX-2673 with the U.S.
Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is
authorized to sign the above-referenced agreement and any related documents on
behalf of the Office of the Mayor and the County of Hawaii pursuant to the Hawaii
County Charter.
BE TT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall
transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the Prosecuting Attorney,
and the Department of Finance.
