The section of roadway that was discussefl over the phone on April 2,1997 at Keauhou
Small Boat harbor is in question as to who the property belongs to.
The county Road Division indicates that it ie the responsibility of D. L. N.ft.D. B.O. R.
ae co thc.repair/maintainance of roadway and street lights. If this le the case then
iC ie felt Chat the county can not make decisions as to parking on [hst portion of
the street.
The south aide of Che aCreet hna been parking even though it resirec[a the street
some what (not really three lanes wide) when traffic is going both ways. As 1n all of
Kona there is inadequate parking facilities to handle the tourist trade that all of
Kona wants especially Sn Keauhou because of the tour boats. To block parking in this
area without supplying other areas Lvr parking wuuld aeverly curtail Cvuriat trade
in the area and create aflflitional problems for the boaters a.s the tourist would park
in the boat trailer parking.
Should the County tlecide that the property is theirs and restrict the parking then the
county should repair/replace the street llghta to halp llghe the aCreeC av thnt cnra
and pedesCrians can see oneauother and the potholes in the pavement.
