Sir,
The section of roadway chat was discussed over the phone on April 2,1997 aY Keauhou
Small Boat Hart or ie in quesCiutt as to who tits property belongs to.
The County Roed Divisiun indicates that it i6 the responsibility of D,L.N.R.A.B.O.R.
as to the.repair/maintainance of roadway and ahree[ lights. If this is the case then
it is felt that the county tail not make. decisions as to parking on that portion of
the street.
The south side of the street has been parking even though it restrects the street
some what (not really three lanes aide) when traffic is going both ways. As in all of
Kona there is Inadequate parking facilities to handle the tourist trade that all of
Kona wants especially in Keauhou because of the tour boats. 1'o block parking in this
area without suppiying other areas for parking would Beverly curtail tourist trade
in the area and create addltloual problems for the boALere as the tourist would paYk
in the boat trailer parking.
Should the County decide that the 1»:uperty is theirs attd restrict the parking then the
county should repair/replace Lhe street lights to help 9.ight the street so that cars
and pedestrians can sec vn eanother and tiie potholes itt t}ie pavement.
6hould you have any further yuestions please Call 329-4215.
