Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations, to which was referred
Communication No. 8 and attached Bill No. 2, reports as follows
The purpose of Bill No. 2 is to amend Chapter 24 of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995
Edition), relating to Vehicles and Traffic by extending the existing freight zone on Punahoa
Street, makar side, beginning from a point two hundred sixty-seven feet Hamakua of Mamo
Street to Furneaux Lane
Commutucation No. 8 rs from Deputy Chief Engineer Jiro Sumach, dated November 13, 2000,
transmitting Bill No. 2 for the Council's review and consideration. Mr. Sumach states that
extending the freight zones will best serve businesses in the immediate area.
At the request of Chair Elanonoff, the Department of Public Works transmitted to the committee
a letter from James Winniman requesting the loading zone designation. A letter from Assistant
Police Chief Lawrence K. Mahuna rn support of this measure was also received and circulated.
Your Committee is rn accordance with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 2, and recommends that
it pass first reading.
