SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT
KALEIOPAPA STREET: Proposed No Parking Zone
We received a request to prohibit parking along Kaleiopapa Street a[ its approach to the boat launch area.
Mr. Steven S.C. Lim of Carlsmith Ball Wichman Case and Ichiki who represents Kamehameha
Investment Corporation informs us that this area is a safety hazazd.
This section of Kaleiopapa Street is narrow with irregular shoulders, and parked vehicles force
pedestrians visiting the historical site to use the travelway. By eliminating parked vehicles, we will
improve pedestrian visibility for motorists and overall traffic safety will be improved.
We request the Hawaii County Code, Chapter 24, Ar[icle 10, Section 24-280, Schedule 28 under (f) Kona
be amended by adding new item as described in the attached draft for an ordinance.
