WHEREAS, March 2001 is the thirteenth annual \ational Women's Htstorv Month. and
WHEREAS, the theme of this year's National Women's Htstorv Month is
°CELEBR.4T 1NG WOMEN OF COURAGE AND VISION', and
WHEREAS, the Hawat t County Convntttee on the Status of Women is sponsonng a
"Real Women" Creative Wntmg CompeUtton for students tslandwtde m grades 5 through 12, and
WHEREAS, the essay contest increases awareness of the many different ways that women made htstory to
Hawat't and fosters pnde m the outstanding accomplishments of women m HawaYt
NOW', THEREFORE, BE [T RESOLVED BY THE COL?YCIL OF THE COLRJTY OF 1-L4WAI'I that rt
recognizes the courage and countless contnbuttons of women w•ho made htstory throughout the United States and
especially on the island of Hawatt dunng the celebration of W'omen's History Vionth
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Haw•at t is instructed to transmit copies of
this resolution to Mrs Launne K Carvalho, Essay Coordinator, and to the Hawart County Committee on the
Status of Women. along with the Haw•at't County Council's best wishes for success and recoemtwn desen ing of
their worthy contnbuttons
