RESOLUTION NO. 28 01
RESOLUTION CREATING A DIRECTOR POSITION AND A PRIVATE SECRETARY POSITION
FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
WHEREAS, a proposed amendment to the Hawaii County Charter to establish a Department
of Environmental Management was submitted to the voters of the County of Hawaii on November 7,
2000, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 11-156 Hawaii Revised Statutes, the County Clerk has
certified that the proposed amendment was approved by a majority of the voters voting upon said
amendment, and
WHEREAS, Salary Ordinance No 00-65 is being amended to add a Director of Environmental
Management position, and
WHEREAS, the Director of Environmental Management would be in need of having a private
secretary, and
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1 3(c) of the Hawaii County Charter states that the Mayor has
the power to "Create positions for which appropriations have been made by the council
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that a Director of Environmental Management position, A-18, and a Private Secretary, SR-20,
position be created
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that funds are available in the Department of Environmental
Management Regular Salaries and Wages account (010-671-5671 01), following transfer from Sewer
Fund
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Finance,
Environmental Management, and Civil Service Departments
