Testimony for "Gateway Center"
Sh?pman Business Part Assoctatton
Hugh Wt)locks- President
Tom English- Vice President
John Kimura- Treasure
Ruth Binyan- Secretary
Glenn Shigehara- Sergeant At Arms
Russell Kuwaye- Board Member.
Good afternoon Council Members,
My name ?s John Kimura and I represent The Shtpmazt Business Park Assoc?arion
Our association has gone on record in support of the proposed Gateway Ceitter adjacent
to our Business Park
i' m onginally from Kurtistown, and had gone to Keaau Intermed?ate and Elemetitary
school At that bate the enrollment at Kesau School was approximate 250 total students
The Keaau area was known as country and we were know as the "cou~y hicks" I don't
know who gave us that name but I guess going to school haze foot all the way to 9th
grade surely d?dn't help
Today the popiilarion of Puna has grown so b?g that a new bypass highway was finally
constructed to handle the traffic congestron problem A new tugh school and elementary
cainpus had to be built to handle the growing enrollment problem
We must come to the realization that the Puna area is growing leaps and bounds and will
become the next town. As population increases, demand for services such as grocery
store, drug store, clothing stores, and other types of sernces increases
That is the very reason that we are going on record in support of the "Gateway Shopping
Center" and we urge this body to support th?s proposed development also
Thank you for your nine.
cerely

~ /2~L~it.~/
ohn Kimura
L
Comm.
