Re: Resolution Creating Position
Enclosed is a resolution creating a Personnel Program Specialist position for the
Department of Clwl Service The voters of Hawaii County approved the
Hawaii County Charter amendments to repeal Section 5-6 2 Safety Coordinator
and to include the employee safety and workers' compensation programs under
the duties of the Director of Civd Service. Therefore, the new Personnel Program
Specalist will serve as the division head of the new Health and Safety Diwsion

The esters of Hawaii County approved the Hawaii County Chazter amendments to
repeal Section 5-6.2. Safety Coordinator and to include the employee safety
and workers' compensation programs under the duites of the director of civil
service. Thus, the new Personnel Program Specialist position will serve as
the division head of the new Health and Safety Division for the Depaztment
of Civil Service. The poeitlon will oversee the workers' compensation and
safety programs for the County and provide advice and assistance to the
departments and agencies. The position will also develop and implement
programs and activities to reduce industrial accidents and to ensure compli-
ande with occupational safety and health laws.
