RESOLUTION NO. 33 Oi
RESOLUTION CREATING A PERSONNEL PROGRAM SPECIALIST POSITION
FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL SERVICE
WHEREAS, the voters of Hawaii County approved the Hawaii County Charter amendments to
repeal Section 5-6 2 Safety Coordinator and to include the employee safety and workers'
compensation programs under the duties of the Director of Civil Service, and
WHEREAS, by creating this Personnel Program Specialist position, the Department of Civil
Service will oversee the workers' compensation and safety programs for the County and provide
advice and assistance to the departments and agencies, and
WHEREAS, the new Personnel Program Speaalist position will serve as the division head of
the new Health and Safety Division for the Department of Civil Service, and
WHEREAS, this position will also develop and implement programs and activities to reduce
industrial accidents and to ensure compliance with occupational safety and health laws, and
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1 3(c) of the Hawaii County Charter states that the Mayor has
the power to "Create positions for which appropriations have been made by the council "
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that a Personnel Program Specialist, EM-03 position be created
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there are sufficient funds available in the County of Hawaii
Department of Civil Service, Regular Salaries and Wages account (010-151-5151 01-011)
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Departments
of Finance and Civil Service
